"Saved, Single, and Satisfied!"
Recently, one of my students asked me, “Mr. Robinson, How are you living?” I pondered that question for a moment; but before I could answer we were disturbed. That question stayed with me most of the day. Hmmm, how am I living? While I was in the Gumbeaux office discussing what I was writing for this article, the thought came to me: I’m Saved, Single and Satisfied! I said it out loud with such conviction that Destenie Vital, the assistant editor said, “I can’t wait to read that article!” Honestly, I could not wait to write it.
I AM SAVED, SINGLE, AND SATISFIED! That seems to be the mantra of my life these days. I have been saved for quite sometime; single too. But satisfied? Not until recently.
By now everyone knows that I am no longer the Gospel morning radio announcer for Z-16/1580 AM. Not too many people know the true reason why. Some assumed I quit. Others thought I was fired. Plus there have been many others rumors spreading in the community. I considered my radio broadcast to be the centerpiece of my life’s purpose of informing, inspiring and igniting people to live lives of passion and purpose for God. When the radio show was taken away from me, I lost a piece of myself. When you have been involved in something for so long, it becomes apart of you. Radio was almost second nature for me. I privately became mad, angry and discontented. I know many deep Christians will frown on that, but it’s the truth. Around the same time, I changed churches and denominations. I embraced a spiritual faith with more orthodox Christian doctrinal beliefs. That is when ALL HELL BROKE LOOSED in my life. I lost many of my close friends. Even some family members shunned me. I became deeply dissatisfied.
Like Job, I thought because I truly loved God and my heart’s desire was to love and served him: I was supposed to live on the mountaintops of life. I later learned that it is in the valleys of life that God reveals His most tender, caring and faithful nature in a real and tangible way. For one year God took me out of the spotlight and into the radiant light of His love, wisdom and refinement. I developed a stronger faith, greater determination, and purposeful passion for Him. I now know what the apostle Paul meant by: “…to be content in all things.” I am truly in a place of satisfaction. And not just because God has blessed me with material things, but because I have eternal blessings such as peace, joy, hope, and expectation of a glorious safe and secured future.
In essence:
I am Saved because I trust Jesus Christ with my life. I believe that it was because He paid the full penalty for my sin debt when He died on Calvary that I have everlasting life…
I am Single by choice and I am loving it…
I am Satisfied because I am in a place where I belong. I am resting safe and secure in the Love of Jesus Christ.
